2.0L Cup Victory for Olly & Era Motorsport at Spa

Saturday 24th May 2025

Olly drove the Era Motorsport-prepared 1965 Porsche 911 to victory at Spa Francorchamps in a torrential race on Saturday, 24th May. Driving solo once again before being reunited with car & team owner Kyle Tilley in the next round at Dijon, Olly claimed pole position in dry conditions, before emerging victorious in the 90-minute contest. Qualifying was very close with the No. 11 Tutill-prepared car.

Olly set the fastest overall lap of the session, although this lap was subsequently disallowed for an incorrectly called track limit breach at the final corner. When shown the in-car footage of the lap, the stewards admitted that the “judge of fact” had made an error. Still, on combined laps, Olly’s times were sufficient for pole position. The number 11 Porsche of Rusinov forged his way into the lead in the early laps as rain fell, using his speed advantage in the first sector. Olly kept in touch, and when the No. 11 boxed to hand over to the car owner, he set several of his personal best fastest laps to close down the gap.

He resumed directly behind the No. 11 after the stops, despite serving 20 seconds longer (40 seconds total elite driver penalty) in the stops. Olly soon made his way back to the front before controlling to gap at around 6 seconds as the rain intensified in the closing laps to bring home the second win of the season to the delight of the Era Motorsport team. Next outing is Dijon in just 2 weeks' time , the scene of Tilley & Bryant’s maiden 2.0L win together 12 months ago.

Olly also shared Vincent Gaye’s 1965 E Type in the Sixties Endurance race at Spa, P2 in practice, P9 on combined times in qualifying and P4 in class (13th overall) in the 120-minute contest was the result.
