2002 Profile

Oliver Bryant has had a passion for racing since an early age and he was keen to try it out as soon as possible. He learned to drive a car at the age of 8 and learnt the basics in a pickup truck in a field. He then moved on to motorbikes from a 50cc Yamaha up to his current Suzuki DRZ 400. Oliver rode these at every opportunity, especially in the wet to practice his sliding skills! At the age of 16, he took his ARDS racing test and competed in a few races in an MG B for the rest of that year whilst at school to gain some experience. He fared well, often beating more experienced drivers in his class.

Aswell as the BCV8 championship consisting of sprint races at UK circuits, Oliver also competed in several long distance races. He competed in the Gentlemen Drivers GT championship and won his class at Donington sharing the car with his father over 2 hours. In addition, he entered the MG team championship for FIA MGBs. This consisted of 3 half hour races, one at Silverstone and two in France at Charade. Against 30 similar MGBs driven by older and more experienced drivers, he qualified on pole position on all three occasions. Oliver went on to win at Silverstone in the dry and the by over 10 seconds in the wet and dry in France on the technical and difficult Charade circuit.
